Free WA CDL School Bus Practice Test 2025

If you’re in Washington, this free CDL school bus practice test is for you!

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has found that, compared with traveling by car, students are 70 times safer when traveling by school bus. In Washington, school buses play a crucial role in the education system, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for students. Although perfect conditions are difficult to achieve in any field, school buses must be in good working order and driven by professional drivers trained for this job.

To become a school bus driver, you must obtain a School Bus (S) endorsement on your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), pass a mandatory criminal background check, undergo a medical examination, and obtain a Passenger Vehicles (P) endorsement if you intend to drive school buses designed to carry 16 or more occupants, including yourself.

As a school bus driver, it’s essential that you are properly trained and fully prepared for this job. The Pacific Northwest often experiences strong winds from the west, which can impact the handling of your vehicle. Learn how to handle these conditions, especially during the winter months when ice and snow present a great risk for accidents.

Air brakes are used to slow down or stop heavy vehicles by applying pressure to the brake pads using compressed air. Since these are common on many school buses, you might need to pass an additional air brakes knowledge test to remove this restriction from your CDL.

Our CDL School Bus practice tests consist of 20 questions based on the official 2025 CDL manual (https://driving-tests.org/washington/wa-cdl-handbook/). These tests cover several topics, such as student management, special safety considerations, railroad-highway grade crossings, and emergency evacuation.

Featuring a similar content and format, our tests closely reflect the actual written exam, with the exception of a timer. Without the pressure of a countdown, you can take your time to carefully consider your answer before submitting it. Each question has multiple answer choices, but only one is correct. While our tests offer an effective method of evaluating your knowledge, they can also be used as educational tools. After each question, you will receive immediate feedback with a detailed explanation of the correct answer, enabling you to study without worrying about the score.

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements
